How to Send & Receive Dogecoin
Sending DOGE takes under a minute and costs less than a penny. This guide walks through the process step by step — including address formats, fees, and what to check before confirming.
Receiving Dogecoin
To receive DOGE, share your Dogecoin address with the sender. In Dogechain Wallet, click 'Receive' to display your address as text and a QR code.
Dogecoin addresses start with the letter 'D' and are 34 characters long (example: D8vFz4p1L37jdg47HXKtSHA2tnU5Wr1q6D). Always copy your address digitally rather than typing it — a single wrong character sends funds to the wrong address with no way to reverse the transaction.
After the sender broadcasts their transaction, it will appear as 'pending' in your wallet within seconds. Full confirmation typically takes 1-6 minutes depending on how many confirmations you or the sender's service requires.
Sending Dogecoin
Step 1: Open Dogechain Wallet and click 'Send.'
Step 2: Enter or paste the recipient's Dogecoin address.
Step 3: Enter the amount in DOGE.
Step 4: Review the transaction fee (typically 0.01 DOGE).
Step 5: Confirm and send.
The transaction broadcasts to the Dogecoin network immediately. The recipient will see it as pending within seconds and confirmed within approximately one minute.
Double-check the recipient address before confirming. Dogecoin transactions are irreversible. If you send DOGE to a wrong address, there is no mechanism to cancel or reverse the transaction.
Transaction Fees and Speed
Dogecoin network fees are based on transaction size in kilobytes, not the amount sent. The standard fee is 0.01 DOGE per KB — typically under $0.001 USD regardless of whether you send 10 DOGE or 10,000 DOGE.
Blocks are produced approximately every 60 seconds. Most services consider a transaction confirmed after 6 blocks (~6 minutes), though the first confirmation arrives in about one minute.
